I have used WordPress to teach student success courses (eLearning 101) as well as Adult Basic Education courses (Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science).\u00a0 Much of my inspiration came from this course below:<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1>Week 1<\/h1>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a great start to <span class=\"il\">Teaching<\/span> with <span class=\"il\">WordPress<\/span> from our perspective. Here&#8217;s a brief summary of this week&#8217;s activity on the blog hub and Twitter discussion:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Opened the week with a <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/teachwordpress\/2015\/06\/01\/links-webinar-and-google-doc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">presentation\/conversation<\/a> about Open Pedagogy including a matrix for brainstorming examples of course designs and where they fall on the continuum from open to closed\/learner centered to <span class=\"il\">teacher<\/span> centered.<\/li>\n<li>Comment feeds by category: Tom posted a call out for help, TWPer&#8217;s responded and a post was submitted &#8211; for everyone&#8217;s benefit: <a href=\"http:\/\/bionicteaching.com\/wordpress-comment-subscriptions-by-category\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/bionicteaching.com\/<wbr \/><span class=\"il\">wordpress<\/span>-comment-<wbr \/>subscriptions-by-category\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Early sharing of projects, examples of course design and decisions\/considerations involved: Alan on connected courses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aYh6VTLrLSE&amp;feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">using FeedWP <\/a> and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WppuAdvD2zk&amp;feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">backstage look at a FeedWP powered connected course<\/a>. Mariana&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/marianafun.es\/uncategorized\/wordpress-is-the-web-jim-groom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">post about her experience setting up a her own domain<\/a> in WP. Tom sharing his <a href=\"http:\/\/bionicteaching.com\/committing-to-committing-ole-twp15\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">design for a faculty development course<\/a> called OLE including a potential link to #TWP15! This week we will start putting it all together and thinking about cohesive course design and more advanced functionality in <span class=\"il\">WordPress<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This week we will have a virtual drop-in clinic.\u00a0On June 18th 1:00 <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_642266119\"><span class=\"aQJ\">noon \u2013 2:00 pm (PST)<\/span><\/span> join UBC\u2019s Richard Tape, <span class=\"il\">WordPress<\/span> developer and all around good guy, for a virtual \u201csupport clinic\u201d on Google Hangout. Ask your questions about plug-ins, approaches and general functionality for <span class=\"il\">WordPress<\/span> features that are commonly used for <span class=\"il\">teaching<\/span> and learning. It\u2019s been a quick four weeks!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Week 4 activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t done so already, please take a look at <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/teachwordpress\/syllabus\/weeks-34-course-design-in-wordpress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the learning activities for weeks 3 and 4,<\/a> including the activity support notes on the same page, and consider doing one or two of these this week. Or, write a blog post about anything that is on your mind at the moment related to <span class=\"il\">teaching<\/span> with <span class=\"il\">WordPress<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Two things we would really love to see, if you have the time and inclination:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Please contribute to our Assignment Bank! This is a collection of assignments you might give to students (or have already given) that use <span class=\"il\">WordPress<\/span> in some way. We\u2019re hoping to build up a bank of numerous kinds of assignments that can serve as inspiration for anyone coming to the TWP site this week or later.<\/li>\n<li>Please consider sharing your \u201cWord in Progress,\u201d something you\u2019re working on for which you\u2019d like feedback. You can of course just do that through the blog hub (which some are already doing), or you can contribute to <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/teachwordpress\/showcase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the WIP section of the site, here. <\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>We also invite you to tweet a question to #TWP15, something you\u2019d like to hear others\u2019 views about. It will be on Google Hangouts, and broadcast live on YouTube for those who just want to watch but not be in the hangout. It will also be recorded. Please\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/u\/0\/events\/c92m8pucjuenr9sjvgr9u307eq0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">see here for more information and to RSVP.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Not the end\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Though this is our last week of the \u201ccourse\u201d called <span class=\"il\">Teaching<\/span> with <span class=\"il\">WordPress<\/span>, we don\u2019t think of this as the end\u2013part of our idea with this course was to connect people who are using <span class=\"il\">WordPress<\/span> in <span class=\"il\">teaching<\/span> and learning so that we can continue to learn from each other. So though this is our last \u201cofficial\u201d week, we hope you will continue to connect with others from the course, add resources to <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/teachwordpress\/resource-collection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the resource collection<\/a>, and add assignments to <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/teachwordpress\/assignment-bank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the assignment bank<\/a>.
