I uses to begin each year with a posting on <a href=\"http:\/\/geoffcain.com\/blog\/elearning\/time-saving-tips-for-online-teaching-2014\/\">Time Saving Tips for Teachers<\/a> which used to be about how to save time teaching online, but I found that most of the tips were being used in face to face classes as well.<\/p>\n<p>What resources do you send to new teachers?<\/p>\n<p>Some websites &amp; resources that I have found invaluable for online teachers include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Honolulu Community College&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110409100532\/http:\/\/honolulu.hawaii.edu\/intranet\/committees\/FacDevCom\/guidebk\/teachtip\/teachtip.htm\">Faculty Development Teaching Tips<\/a> &#8211; I especially like the article here &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110610055501\/http:\/\/honolulu.hawaii.edu\/intranet\/committees\/FacDevCom\/guidebk\/teachtip\/101thing.htm\">101 Things You Can Do ithe First Three Weeks of Class<\/a>.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>A Berkeley Compendium of <a href=\"http:\/\/teaching.berkeley.edu\/compendium\/\">Suggestions for Teaching with Excellence<\/a> &#8211; This is from 1983 and comes with the caveat that there are more up-to-date sources but much here is timeless.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.onlineteachingtips.org\/\">Online Teaching Tips<\/a> &#8211; These are tips specifically from online teachers for online teachers.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Building-Online-Learning-Communities-Strategies\/dp\/0787988251\">Online Learning Communities: Effective Strategies for the Virtual Classroom<\/a>, by Rena M. Palloff and Keith Pratt, Jossey-Bass Publishers, San Francisco, 2007<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I found that searching for the assigned textbook title in quotes and then adding the word &#8220;syllabus&#8221; gave me a good idea about how teachers were using a particular textbook.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>What about you?<\/i><\/b>\u00a0What teaching tips do you have for new teachers?
